A preferences dialog box appears the first time you start up Music Data Management Software after installing it.
To start up Music Data Management Software
- Click the Windows Start button.
- Point to Programs, CASIO, and then the IDES 4 folder.
- Click the Music Data Management Software icon

On the File menu, click Exit.

Click the x button on the right side of the title bar.

- Initialize:
- Initializes Keyboard settings.
- Preference:
- Displays a properties dialog box for specifying the MIDI device and the location of the user data storage folder.
- Exit:
- Quits the application.
- (3)Tool Launcher Bar
- Use the tool launcher bar to access the converter and editor tools.
- (4)Data Type Selection Boxes
- Click the down arrow button and select a data type from the menu that appears.
- (5)Memory Capacity Bar
- This bar shows how much Keyboard memory has been used by loading of song, rhythm, tone with waveform, drum sound with waveform, and SMF data files.
- (6)Memory List Tabs
- Select a tab to specify the location of the data files (Keyboard memory, memory card loaded in your computer, floppy diskette loaded in your computer) you want to exchange with your computer's hard disk.
- (7)PC Toolbar
- Contains icons that correspond to data file operations on your computer. See the following section for details about the icons that appear in this toolbar.
- (8)PC Data List
- This is a list of the data files on your computer's hard disk.
- (9)Memory Data Toolbar
- Contains icons that correspond to data file operations on your Keyboard. See the following section for details about the icons that appear in this toolbar.
- (10)Memory Data List
- This is a list of the data files that are contained in Keyboard memory, or on a memory card or floppy diskette loaded in your computer.
- (11)Right Arrow Button
- Click this button to transfer the currently selected computer data file to Keyboard memory, or to a memory card or a floppy diskette loaded in your computer.
- (12)Left Arrow Button
- Click this button to transfer the currently selected user data from Keyboard memory, or from a memory card or a floppy diskette loaded in your computer to your computer's hard disk.

You can use the preferences dialog box to configure the following settings.
- MIDI Setup
- User data file storage folder
- Memory card drive name
MIDI Setup |
- On the File menu, click Preference.
- Configure MIDI settings.
- To select the MIDI devices
Use the "Input Device" and "Output Device" boxes to select the appropriate devices.
- To select the type of Musical Instrument you are connecting
Use the "Model" box to select the appropriate model name.
- You cannot specify MIDI devices manually when the "Device Auto Scan" check box is selected. If you want to specify them, click the "Device Auto Scan" check box to clear it.
- To select the type of Musical Instrument you are connecting
Use the "Model" box to select the appropriate model name.
- You cannot specify the model name when the "Device Auto Scan" check box is selected. If you want to specify the model name, click the "Device Auto Scan" check box to clear it.
- To turn Device Auto Scan on off
Use the "Device Auto Scan" check box to turn it on or off. Device Auto Scan is turned on when the check box is selected.
- What does Device Auto Scan do?

Device Auto Scan performs the following operations whenever you start up the Music Data Management Software.
- It checks automatically whether or not a Musical Instrument is connected to the computer.
- If a Musical Instrument is connected, it detects the model name, and configures the "Input Device", "Output Device", and "Model" settings automatically.
Normally you should leave Device Auto Scan turned on (check box selected).
- Close the Preference dialog box.
- To save the settings you configured, click [OK].
- To close the dialog box without saving any settings, click [Cancel].
To specify the user data storage folder |
- On the File menu, click Preference.
- Click the Directory tab.
- Specify the folder on your computer where you want user data files to be stored.
- If you want to leave the directory setting the way it is, click OK to close the preferences dialog box without changing anything.
- To change the folder setting, click the Browse button. On the folder selection dialog box that appears, click the folder on your computer where you want user data files to be stored.
- To exit the preferences dialog box without saving anything, click Cancel.
To specify the memory card drive name |
- On the File menu, click Preference.
- Click the Card tab.
- Specify the name of your computer's memory card drive.
- If you want to leave the drive setting the way it is, click OK to close the preferences dialog box without changing anything.
- To exit the preferences dialog box without saving anything, click Cancel.
To specify the floppy diskette drive name |
- On the File menu, click Preference.
- Click the Disk tab.
- Specify the name of your computer's floppy diskette drive.
- If you want to leave the drive setting the way it is, click OK to close the preferences dialog box without changing anything.
- To exit the preferences dialog box without saving anything, click Cancel.

Generating a User Data List |

Before you can exchange data between your computer and Keyboard, you first need to generate a list of user data and file information currently present in Keyboard memory.
To generate the list, make sure that the Keyboard memory list tab is selected, and then click the Refresh button on the memory data toolbar.
This will read the contents of Keyboard memory and refresh the list.
